Mostly about my little fur child Tiger Lou

So it's been quite a while since I've written anything and even though I'm sure that my absence went unnoticed it's still nice to write. Lou has been doing really well with our new Kingston Vet. She recommended a supplement that could possibly help with his allergies and it seems to be working quite well. It's basically a fish oil pill that we get at the vets Lou gets one a day with his supper and has been getting them for almost two years now they really seem to be helping and they seem to have built up his immune system he doesn't react as harshly or as often to the different allergens as he used to which is great. Spring used to be dreaded because much like many people Lou's allergies flare up in the spring time however so far this spring hasn't been bad at all. I try and put Lou's bedding in the wash on a sanitize cycle with bleach and soap and an extra rinse cycle at least once or twice a month and if he seems to be getting itchy then he gets a bath with tea tree oil bar soap. This is the combination that is working for us and as far as I'm concerned it's working really well Lou hasn't an ear infection in about four or five months something that used to be a regular occurrence from the allergies. Also as silly as it may seem to some people I have an air purifier in my bedroom where Lou and I sleep and it's specifically for Lou oh well as long as he's comfortable and happy that's what matters right? So the fishy pills as I refer to them are called Aller-G-3 and we picked them up at the veterinarians they look like a cod liver oil pill, however they are smaller because well Lou's not that big

if we gave him anything too big well it just wouldn't be pretty. This regime may not have been what I had in mind when I decided a pug was the furry person that was right for me but we're making it work and I wouldn't go back on my decision that Lou was the right one for all the "normal" pugs in the world.

Finally I found the right sd card that had the pictures from the road trip this summer on it. Lou sat in between my Dad and I the whole way from Alberta to Ontario a little squished but he didn't seem to mind too much. Lou's doing pretty good and likes our neighbour's which include a peckinese and a very poofy pomerainian which he's made friends with which was quite nice to see. Lou's little sister is fairly yappy and as such we've been trying all sorts of different methodes to control the barking all to no avail and as such we've decided to try a shock collar which seems to be working alright although I really didn't want to use a shock collar and I'm with most people in thinking that they're cruel but it's only a small shock such as when you step out of you veichal and get shocked and it turns off atomatically after acertain number of barks which is good. So although I still don't like the collar it's the option that seems to be working. Because we used to punish Maple by putting her in a submissive position but then she just figured if she punished her self then she could continue to bark so she would bark and punish herself then bark again it was a little funny that she figured that out but clearly that method wasn't working hence the collar. Maple's only been shock three times so I think that she's learning and that she's in a way outgrowing the barking because she's not as yappy as she one was. It's important that we continue to socialize her and let her expirence new places and people because that was one of the reasons she was so yappy was because she was nervous.

Finally somewhat settled

Whew we finally got here all the family is together again and happy. We moved to Kingston the last seven months have been nuts between house showings and moving. Now I'm on the hunt for a new job whoopie Lou doesn't seem to mind me being home all the time lol but I guess someone's got to work to pay for his squeakie toy habit. Lou's rash has been doing pretty good and we haven't had to give him any allergy meds in a couple months now maybe he was allergic to Alberta. I'll get pictures of the trip across up as soon as I find the SD card that has them on it I'll say one thing for technology although it's nice to be able to take a whole bunch of pictures on them for someone like me whos a tinsey absent minded they are very easy to lose lol oh well it'll show up. But anyways Lou, my Dad and I all drove across from Alberta to Kingston Ontario with my two Budgies because Lou was too big to fly in cabin and I didn't want to have him in cargo only to find out five hours later that he was having troubles breathing so Lou, Dad the two budgie's and I drove across Canada and Mom and Caitlyn(my older sis) and the cat as well as the younger pug Maple flew because both the Cat and Maple were small enough to go in cabin. The funny thing is poor Lou's alergic to bird feathers and he spent four days in the car with them but oddly enough didn't react to them which was good. The trip across was fun and Lou loves car rides so all you had to do every morining when we got up was look at Lou and ask him, " do you want to go for a car ride" and every morning the same response yes please yes please lol. The birds were really funny because we were on the big trans canada high way and any time a big semi would come by they would scream at it lol they really liked the car ride to and I think they thought they were perigrin falcons or something because of how fast they were going. All in all a very enjoyable ride and we're all glad to have the family back together again. Those pictures will be up asap promise.

Attention Pugs of Kingston Ontario!!!

This summer Tiger Lou and Maple Walnut will be coming to Kingston and area as we are all moving. Any information about pugs or puggie related events would be much appreciated and of course we would love to hear from any other pugs about things such as good socializing areas and good walking trails where pugs are accepted. We try and incorporate the pugs into as many aspects of our life as possible and would love a heads start in being able to that in Kingston. I know it's been more than a month since I've last writen anything but all is well the pugs are doing well and we're trying to finish the renovations that we had started on the house in order to get the house on the market. My Dad who is already in KIngston has been scoutng out the area and recently went to the sportsman show at which he met members of the pugalug rescue center and some of the pugs from there which is great to hear because they do wonderful work. Well there's alot more to do tonight so I'm going to sign off for now and hopefully there wont be as big a gap between this and the next post. Looking foreward to hearing from everyone.

At last the mystery is solved

Hi everyone it's been quite awhile since the last post but I got really buzy so I haven't had a chance. We got Lou in to the vet's finally and the brave little guy got some blood testing done they didn't even have to put him to sleep to do it which was go as that can be kinda tricky with pugs sometimes and well the other day we finally got the results back and well he tested positive for 17 different things meaning that he's allergic to 17 different things my goodness my dog is a hyperallergenic geek lol I love him to bits anyways. Some of the things that he's allergic to are tobacco smoke ikk, ( good thing nobody in the house smokes that's a really bad habit),barley oh darn no beer for the pug(oh well the hops is really bad for dogs anyways not that I'd ever give my dog beer),peas, bird feathers( I have two budgies butI'm pretty sure they just mean direct contact and well dog saliva is deadly to birds so it's not as though Lou gets particularlly close to them anyways), chicken, and Juniper trees just to name a few it was expensive to get done but well worth it. They test for a whole bunch of things and then they also tell you some foods that your dog can still eat.

Puggie Rash on the way to being solved

Well Lou went into the vet's today turns out the vet who normally treats him either wasn't working that day or moved to a different practice either was Lou was treated by a new vet today which he didn't seem to mind too much in fact since I had school my mom took him in for me and she said that he just loved the new vet mind you he loved our last vet too lol I don't think Lou's too picky. So Lou got some blood taken today and he was really good they didn't have to put him to sleep to take it so that was good as that can always be a risk with pugs. The vet said that in three to four weeks we'll have some answers as to what is causeing the rash and itchyness. Hopefully it's something simple that I can simply eliminate from his diet or daily life and I sure hope it's not to something like dust mites. For now until we get some answers we have Lou on a human allergy medicine simmilar to Benadryl. It's kinda funny because the pills are floresent pink like glow in the dark pink and I first saw them and was like I'm putting this into my dog you've got to be kidding me but hey I guess it helps so I gave it to him anyways and the vet did recomend it so...

Exam's are finally done with only the mildest of mental insanity

Well it took me longer than expected to get back on to the internet again. I wasn't actually doing exams the whole time well once I was done my exams I got about nine days off this is because the school is pretty much closed while exams are taking place and unless you have a test you're not allowed into the building so I spent my nine days doing renovations on the house because we're moving this summer and so we've got to get things ready. So instead of having a nice relaxing break I got to do trim and painting and bathrooms and I learned how to install a toilet you know all the fun stuff lol. And where was Lou during all of this you may ask well unfortuneatly and I truely feel horrible for this Lou spent most of those nine days in my room in his kennel because well we didn't want him getting into anything dangerous. Now all this meant that everyone was buzy and little pugs who should've been taken to the vet's long ago have instead remained at home with itchy skin and the ever mystereous rash. It's not that we don't love Lou or that we think he should be our last priority it's that well we had to get all the renovations done before my dad left because well they're sending him out ahead of time because they need the position filled right away. Anyways back on topic so my Dad came in and got Lou this morining so that Lou could go on a car ride and get out of the house so my parents took him and when they came back they had a vet appointment made for him because they finally realized how uncomfortable Lou has become I've been telling them for a week that I have to keep waking up in the middle of the night to get him to stop licking and scratching but I guess they didn't think it was that bad thank goodness they realized because poor Lou is so uncomfortable in his own skin I can barely even touch him without making him itchy. So this wensday Lou goes in to get some blood work done and hopefully get some relief from this horrid rash.
